CIRs are characterized by average (median) plasma density of \(\approx 29\) cm −3 ( \(\approx 26\) cm −3), ram pressure of \(\approx 11\) nPa ( \(\approx 9\) nPa), temperature of \(\approx 5\times 10^\) K), and magnetic-field magnitude of \(\approx 15\) nT ( \(\approx 14\) nT). The occurrence rate is the maximum during the solar-cycle descending phase ( \(\approx 33\) year −1), followed by occurrences during solar minimum ( \(\approx 24\) year −1), the ascending phase ( \(\approx 22\) year −1), and solar maximum ( \(\approx 11\) year −1). Considering 90° local pitch angle electrons, Fig. HEP is equipped with two types of telescope, HEP-L (70 keV ~ 1 MeV) and HEP-H (0.7 ~ 2 MeV) (Mitani et al. 1h) of ERG, which was orbiting near the magnetic equator at radial distances shorter than GEO. At ~ 22:30 UT, significant enhancement of electron differential fluxes was observed by the High-energy Electron exPeriments (HEP) (Fig. The gradual dipolarization signatures and duration were similar to the second substorm injection in Gkioulidou et al. ERG observed a nearly dispersionless, namely not perfectly dispersionless, injection accompanied by a gradual increase of B z instead of a sharp dipolarization. The apogee and perigee altitudes of ERG orbit were \(\sim6 R_\) components observed at ERG positions. The magnetospheric spacecraft, ERG, was successfully launched by the Epsilon launch vehicle from the JAXA Uchinoura Space Center on December 20, 2016. But the Exploration of energization and Radiation in Geospace (ERG, nicknamed Arase) spacecraft also observed a substorm injection event at radial distances shorter than GEO during a special period of the mission. Particle injections associated with substorms were usually studied based on observations at the geosynchronous orbit (GEO). The substorm injection expanding earthward farther than GEO was observed by ERG, and the event can be better simulated by the further-developed model shown in this work. Despite possible deviation of the model magnetic fields from reality, the relativistic computations still show dominant effect on the drift echoes periods. Our work shows that the main features of the substorm injection event are successfully reproduced with the drift echoes periods showing a better fit to the observations of this event when relativistic effects are considered. Since the electron energies of interest are comparable to the rest mass energy, our work further provides the relativistic form of the previous model and employs a semiempirical model as background field instead of a dipole-based one in the previous study. ![]() ERG and GOES spacecraft measured tens to a few hundred keV electrons injected during the substorm, providing important seed population for ring current and radiation belts. To study the substorm injection event and produce drift echoes with better periods, we modify an existing model in the literature. So far such models showed good results of dispersionless features compared to spacecraft observations, but could only produce drift echoes with periods somewhat different from geosynchronous observations. Models built on an impulsive earthward-propagating electromagnetic field have been proposed to simulate substorm injections. The observations provided constraints to study the event and opportunities to make adjustments to the previous substorm injection models. The GOES-15 and GOES-13 measured the drift echoes of the event as well. ERG successfully observed a clear and sufficient extent of manifestations of the dispersionless injection and the successive drift echoes at radial distances shorter than geosynchronous orbit (GEO) during a unique period of the satellite mission. 5, 2017, was observed by the ERG (Arase), GOES-15 and GOES-13 spacecraft. Due to tears and other flaws, the work was restretched several times. Secondly for technical reasons: studies of the canvas have not provided a precise date (between 15). The authenticity of the piece was thrown into doubt by some experts from the outset.įirstly for iconographic reasons: the setting sun (probably a later addition) does not correspond to the reflection in the sea and, furthermore, the vessel's asymmetric rigging is also an issue the ship would not be able to sail as painted. In his analytical catalogue of the paintings and drawings of Bruegel the Elder, Manfred Sellink places Landscape with the Fall of Icarus, unsigned and undated, in the "contested authorship" category. Others believe that the setting sun gives an impression of the immense distance between the sun and the earth, thus strengthening the impression of a true universe created by Bruegel. Some have seen the sun, and Daedalus's absence, as the work of a restorer. Such elements thwart the work of historians wishing to establish the authorship and the authenticity of the work. Especially given that, as we have seen, Landscape with the Fall of Icarus contains a series of anomalies in comparison to the text: Daedalus is not present in the composition, the sun is not at the zenith. These questions are still and will doubtless remain forever unresolved. Is his view of unflinching nature optimistic or, on the contrary, does it call for a pessimistic view whereby all effort is in vain? Why make references to proverbs within the piece?ĭoes he take a moralist or humanist approach to the fall? What meaning is hidden behind this interpretation of the fall of Icarus? Why does the artist present the scene in this way? Here, the drama has already taken place whilst the true action lies in the fisherman, the ploughman and the shepherd going about their daily tasks. His Fall of Icarus is very far from being a faithful illustration of the Latin epic poem. He places the landscape at the heart of the theme. While the painter takes the tale from Ovid, and all the elements of the story can be found within Bruegel's work, the composition which he presents to the viewer is a very personal version. ![]() However, none of these illustrations is comparable to this very personal interpretation. They also become disseminated in several vernacular languages, thus also becoming accessible to artists who could not read Latin. Throughout the 16th century, the illustrations from these editions are often reused and copied. Such a revival is proven by the numerous new editions of Ovid's work which appeared on the market at the time. The lawsuit by the districts is the second to be filed challenging the mask mandate ban. The state has seen a spike in cases involving children who are more susceptible to the delta variant, which impacts younger, healthier people than last year’s virus and makes them sick much more rapidly. The governor had called lawmakers to Capitol urging them to approve the change for schools, saying he was especially concerned about children under the age of 12 for whom vaccines have not yet been approved. The Little Rock School District will begin classes on Aug. The Marion School District in east Arkansas started its new academic year on July 26 and almost immediately had an outbreak. The lawsuit says, “No rational reason exists for denying public school students, teachers and staff, and the school boards which are obligated to keep them safe, the ability to ensure that all who work and learn in our public schools are as safe a possible.” On Thursday, legislators voted against two bills that would have allowed school boards to require masks in certain circumstances. The districts filed the lawsuit in Pulaski County Circuit Court, with Judge Tim Fox set to hold a hearing Friday to consider a request for a temporary restraining order to halt enforcement of the law while the case is being considered.įenter, who spoke to state lawmakers Wednesday during a special session of the legislature to consider amending the law to allow districts to make their own decisions about whether to require masks, predicts that without action, other school districts will encounter similar outbreaks. Their goal was to reach Mexico, where they knew slavery had been abolished. Mostly from Joseph Vann's and his father's plantations, the slaves locked masters and overseers in houses and cabins, stole guns and ammunition, horses and mules, food, and other supplies, then started traveling south. Webber was among the early leaders of the Cherokee in this area, one of their representatives when meeting with US agents and going to Washington, DC for meetings. In the early years when Webber was in the territory, there was considerable conflict with the Osage people, who were forced by the United States government to give up some of their territory to the Cherokee, in a Treaty of 1828. Webber also built a salt works, leasing the land for the latter from the Cherokee government, which held it communally as a tribe. When English-speaking visitors came, one of their African-American slaves and domestic servants would translate. They had adopted many American ways and outfitted their house in European-American style. Of mixed-race Cherokee-European descent, Webber was married to a full-blood Cherokee. Having acquired a small fleet of keelboats, he was able to stock the post with goods from other parts of the United States, so he opened a trading post and a portage service, as well as building a house.
